Twinsburg Duathlon 2022

The Twinsburg Duathlon was held last weekend in Twinsburg, OH.  What a great race!  It was a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike, 2 mile run race.   I was very well put on and I have to say I had a great time and a great race.

The first two miles were just under 7:00 which I was happy with and the bike went pretty decent despite the wind and hills.   The second run was all about hanging on for dear life and when I was done my legs were completely trashed.  I have a lot of work to do still this season!!

Fox Island Sprint Tri- 2022

First triathlon race of 2022 is behind me now and I can see a little bit better where I stand in my fitness. There is always a lot of work to do at this point of the year. Before the first race I just try to build as much as I can, but then after I see where I stand…. it’s time to hammer.
August comes quick and that is what we are aiming for. #Nationals 🙂

Washington D.C. Rock n Roll Half Marathon

Sooooo I signed up for my half marathon race for 2019.  Each year I like to kick off my training by getting ready for a half marathon or a marathon.  Last year, I prepared for my first full marathon which gave me an insane stamina build.  Looks like this year i’m going to be participating in the Rock ‘N Roll half marathon in Washington D.C. – March 2019.  I’m very excited and ready to see what kind of training I can push myself into!

Happy Training!

Off Season Prep

Happy Tuesday! Its a beautiful freezing cold day here in Northeast Ohio with snow and ice covering the roads and sidewalks- it’s just fabulous… NOT.

I’m just kidding, I don’t mind the winter all that much.  I find the challenge of coming up with new ways to train and get runs in fun and exciting.  I will say, the dark mornings and dark nights make it hard to stay motivated along with the holiday season laziness, but luckily I don’t have anything major coming up that I really need to be prepared for so it’s all good.

Indy Monumental Half Marathon Training

It’s late October and it’s  the off season – but not quite all the way.

I am currently training for the Indianapolis Monumental Half marathon taking place on November 3rd,  2018.   I am very excited to race and see where I am at fitness wise- especially on a longer-distance level.  Tri season this year was so focused on the short fast distance so I am really ready to see where I am at.

The training has gone well, but I feel way behind from where I would want to be going into this race.  I wanted to make this a half marathon PR, but I feel that if I try to push a 7:10, 7:15 consistent pace, then I may end up injuring myself.   Right now, I’m trying to just get in those last runs that count before the big day arrives.

Life after Triathlon Season 2018

Triathlon season has come to an end and I can’t say that I am happy about it at all!  Last year, I kind of welcomed the break/rest period to follow, but this year I have enjoyed training probably more than I ever have so I’m sorry to see the race season go.

What’s next?

I now usually transition into a fall running season that lasts until the end of November, and then I do take some what of a break.  I’m going to participate in the Indianapolis Monumental half marathon in early November with a new goal this year of breaking 1 hour and 36 minutes and 36 seconds.   I am ready to work super hard to achieve this goal this year and  I feel that with enough determination, motivation and focus, I can do it!

Nationals USAT 2018

CLEVELAND OHIO!!!

Not only is this my current hometown , but it was also the home of the 2018 USAT National Championships! My favorite event of the year!  The weather was literally amazing despite the storms off shore, causing there to be too rough of waters for the swim portion on race morning.  That’s right! They turned our race into a Sprint Duathlon last minute-talk about freaking out !!

I was so nervous that morning looking out at the rough lake and wondering how much that was going to affect my swim time which was disappointing, but I was going to get through it.   Around 20 minutes out from race start, I’m hiking up my wet suit and the announcer simply tells all athletes to report to transition and stand by their racked bike.  This is where the broke the news to us about the race being changed to a duathlon and explained all of the rules to us.  I tried to hard to focus and listen but I just decided to have fun with it and try my best- and that’s exactly what I did.

It’s the week of Nationals and I’m so excited for Friday- Sunday!! I love attending the Nationals expo, seeing all of the other races and cheering on the Olympic race on Saturday.  Oh and GUESS WHAT!!!?!?!   I don’t have to go anywhere for Nationals this year, it’s IN CLEVELAND WHERE I LIVE!!!!  Can you tell that I’m excited and busting at the seams?    It’s just such a wonderful event full of inspiration, motivation, family, friends and racing and I so ready for it!
